Shared Spaces or Shelters for Precarious Workers? Coworking Spaces in Italy

This paper critically discusses the relationship between new workspaces, such as Coworking Spaces (CSs), professionals using spaces, and related work patterns, looking at Italian context in particular. There appears to be a mismatch educational level of workers, their expertise expected professional status on one hand, reality terms employment precariousness low income, other. It that CSs and, more general, shared workspaces act shelters from difficult exclusionary job market than mainly ‘serendipity accelerators’. The hypothesis this article is that, through careful interpretation emerging dimensions spatial effects CSs, it possible clearly identify some dynamics inclusion exclusion sharing competition other, characterize path knowledge-based occupational groups.
